Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t see your questions? Please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll be happy to answer any queries you may have.

No, you do not. Although we do consultations, and they are complementary, we will go over the same information right before your procedure as we would during the consultation. Most people that need a consultation prior to their scheduled appointment are people that have had previous permanent make up, or those that are still very unsure about the procedure and have several questions.

Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as lipstick and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face and lips.

Each procedure takes around 2 hours.

The length of time your tattoo will last depends on many different factors, for example, your skin type, sun exposure, skin care regimen, and some types of medication you may be taking. For Brows, we recommend annual touchups to refresh the shape and color of your brows.  Lipstick tends to last a bit longer therefore we recommend bi-annual touchups.

Microblading and hair stroke brows mimic the look of individual hairs. Powder or Ombre Brows gives the same effect as if you had filled your brows in with makeup. Both can and will look natural. Some skin types are not suitable for microblading, and our staff will discuss which technique is best for you before your procedure.

Everyone has a different pain tolerance, however, we do use numbing cream before and during the procedure and most clients do not complain of pain. We even have several clients that fall asleep!

You are free to have your eyebrows waxed before your appointment, but it must be at least 48 hours prior to getting tattooed in order to give the skin time to heal before being tattooed. If you do not choose to get your eyebrows waxed elsewhere before you come in we will groom them at the time of the appointment. Sometimes this is much preferred as we would like to have control over the ultimate shape of your brow. You cannot be waxed and tattooed in the same day, so grooming is done prior to the tattoo using tweezers.

Absolutely. We adhere to all state and federal sanitation guidelines. We use all disposable needles and supplies.

For all cosmetic tattooing and lash appointments we require a 48 hour notice to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If you reschedule or cancel within the 48 hour window, you will lose your deposit and another will be required in order to book a secondary appointment. This is non negotiable and strictly enforced. For all remaining services including waxing and lash services, we appreciate as much advance notice as possible, however you will not be penalized for last-minute cancellations.

We have a strict lateness policy. If you are 5 minutes or more late for your appointment, you will have to reschedule and potentially lose your security deposit. We book out exactly the amount of time needed for your service and in order to respect the time of the clients booked after you, we cannot accommodate excessive tardiness.

Having a procedure done by another artist does not prevent you from being able to have it done at Pretty In Ink. However, we will need to consult with you prior to booking your appointment just in case your previous tattoo is not able to be properly covered or refreshed.

After care for Brows and Lips are different. For Brows, you will have 7 days of aftercare where you will be cleaning with sterile water, which we provide, and applying ointment which we also provide. For the 7 days of healing you must refrain from sweating, steam rooms, saunas, and applying makeup anywhere near or on the eyebrows. You will not scab as you will be keeping the brow area clean and do not need to keep them dry. For lips, the average healing time is 5 to 7 days where you will be cleaning with sterile water and applying ointment as well. Your lips will slightly exfoliate, sort of like you have chapped lips, and you must refrain from being tempted to pick or touch them. You must also drink through a straw during the entirety of the healing process, refrain from any makeup on the lips, and no smoking allowed.

For Brows, we match your eyebrow hair color, not the hair on your head. Permanent Makeup tends to be the darkest and the warmest in tone the first 5 to 7 days. Then, it lightens and shrinks and neutralizes as it heals. There are many color options for lips and we can mix colors together as well. We have swatches of potential colors that you may choose from.

A non-refundable deposit is required for all permanent makeup procedures and full sets of lash extensions. This deposit will go towards your balance on the day of your procedure. It is nonrefundable and non-transferable if you reschedule or cancel within 48 hours of your appointment time. If you fail to reschedule your appointment sooner than 48 hours, or cancel your appointment altogether, you will lose the deposit and have to pay it again in order to book another appointment. Deposits vary by service.

We prefer that you come alone to your appointment, and under No circumstances are children ever allowed in the tattoo suite. This is for safety and legal reasons. If childcare is an issue, please contact us to reschedule your appointment. This applies to all new procedures and all touch up procedures. The 48 hour rescheduling and cancellation policy applies.

No. We are implanting pigment underneath the skin, so we cannot guarantee that 100% of that pigment will ever disappear completely. The procedure does require maintenance, they should not be considered semi-permanent.
